About us

About the Uprawr Mental Health Foundation

UPRAWR Mental Health Foundation is a brand new mental health charity committed to helping over 18s who can relate to the rock and alternative music scene with which the UPRAWR brand has become synonymous.

UPRAWR launched twelve years ago as a rock, pop punk and metal club night. In that time we’ve operated across the UK, opened music studios and launched a music publishing company.

After Chester Bennington took his own life we decided more needed to be done to help the rock and alternative community, and with rising numbers of young people suffering from mental health issues in the UK it seems obvious that someone had to take action and create something new – turning traditional means of getting help on it’s head to create something that truly understood the needs of the alternative community.

Our Mission

'To improve the mental health and emotional resilience of the people who love rock and alternative music'.

From our founders, to the sponsors and ambassadors, and the people on the ground making it all happen – we are all focused on our mission.
With a shared vision, we come together to support our community, and reignite the passion for living life out loud.

What we do

We provide completely free mental health counselling for individuals who connect with the rock and alternative music scene.

Our team consists of highly qualified and trained counsellors who share a passion for rock and alternative music. Counselling is available both online and in custom-built counselling rooms within music studios—designed to create a space where people can feel comfortable, understood, and truly at home.

With both one-on-one and group counselling options, we’re here to support the alternative community we’re proud to be a part of.

Why we do it

UPRAWR has always been about good times—whether it’s partying, playing in a band, or heading to festivals we partner with, like Slam Dunk, Download, and Warped Tour. The UPRAWR brand and UPRAWR Mental Health Foundation are two sides of the same coin: one is about loving life, and the other is about ensuring you’re in the right headspace to truly enjoy it.

When Chester Bennington took his own life in 2017, we knew something had to change. Since launching, we’ve helped hundreds of people find support, healing, and hope. The more stories we hear about how we’ve changed—or even saved—lives, the more motivated we become to keep building, keep growing, and keep helping more people in the alternative community.

How we do it

Through events, fundraisers, and donations, we employ highly qualified counsellors to provide both one-on-one and group counselling for those in the rock and alternative community.

We focus on creating unique and engaging events that complement our scene—ensuring we support rather than compete with the incredible events and promotions already thriving across the UK.

By doing this, we raise the funds needed to keep our counsellors employed and continue providing life-changing support to those who need it most.

Healing doesn't happen alone

Help people find hope by becoming a monthly donor.
